To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the Hong Kong Institute of Engineers will present a flagship event – the 'Hong Kong Institute of Engineers 50th Anniversary 'United, We Engineer' Carnival' (hereinafter referred to as the 'Carnival'). The Carnival will be held on 14 and 15 March 2026, for two consecutive days at the Great Lawn of the West Kowloon Cultural District Art Park. There will be over 40 interactive and game booths on-site to showcase the diversity, innovation and importance of the engineering profession in a lively and interesting manner, allowing the public to experience first-hand the critical role and contribution of engineering in daily life and social development.
The Carnival features a rich programme, with over 40 interactive booths covering multiple engineering disciplines. It will not only display engineering projects and cutting-edge technologies from various fields but also introduce a number of future innovative technologies. The public can experience the infinite fun of engineering through interactive participation. The highlight booths include robot exhibitions, various model displays, VR experiences, drone flight simulators, and the 'Dragon Water Sucker' drainage robot, which are especially suitable for children to learn practical engineering knowledge in a fun and educational way.
In addition to the interactive booths, the full-day stage programme is equally exciting, featuring singing, dancing, cheerleading performances, and sharing by young engineers, full of vitality. There will also be several特色打卡位 (special photo spots) on-site for visitors of all ages to take memorable photos and record unforgettable moments, spending a fulfilling and delightful weekend together.
A special exhibition, 'Engineering Legend: Fifty Years of Excellence', will be held concurrently at the venue, showcasing 19 outstanding engineering projects that have won the '50th Anniversary Legendary Awards'. It will lead the public to review Hong Kong's outstanding engineering achievements over the past few decades and witness their profound impact on social development.
Moreover, the Institute previously organised the 'United, We Engineer' school competition, with the theme of sustainable innovative cities, to encourage students to unleash their creativity and imagination and showcase their vision of an ideal urban environment. The competition prizes will be awarded at the Carnival, and the winning works from the primary, secondary and university categories will be introduced simultaneously, presenting the innovative thinking of the younger generation.
